I
have a wallet that I call my magic wallet, and
keep it as a symbol of God's supply for me. It always has
money in itsometimes a lot, sometimes a little, but
it's never empty. I haven't received a paycheck or salary
in the past 30 years. I own no properties, no stocks, and
no share in a business venture, and I have never received
an inheritance. I am also not a thief or swindler. Who am
I, and how can this be?
I am a Christian volunteer.
I have no special training or outstanding qualities or talents.
I am just an ordinary man, going about my life and work in
an ordinary way. I am not a flaming evangelist or great teacher
or worker of miracles. I just go about my business of serving
God, taking care of my family (a wonderful wife and two children),
teaching Gods Word to a handful of believers, and helping
children and the poor through various educational and social
programs. Most of the world never has and never will hear
about me or my lifes work.
But I work for the greatest
boss in the universe! I am paid in cash by the One who made
and owns it all. I partake of the greatest truth. I abound
in exceeding joy and have peace of mind, contentment of heart,
and a sense of spiritual well-being. I witness miracles dailymiracles
of supply, miracles of lives changed, miracles of love, and
much more. In my home we can truly say that we are a happy
family. We sing and dance and enjoy the simple joys in life.
We own nothing, yet have everything we need and are not in
debt.
Sometimes I feel that Jesus
spoils us, like when my daughter mentions she needs or would
like something andboom!the next day it
is supplied, often through seemingly impossible or supernatural
means. We live in a nice, comfortable, rented apartment. I
drive a nice car. We have plenty of nutritious food and take
yearly vacations. We usually have not only our needs supplied,
but even our wants. When one of our birthdays comes around
and friends ask what we need, its often hard to answer.
Truly, Jesus supplies all we need, even before we ask Him.
In this life of faith, we have
learned that as we go about taking care of His businesssharing
His love with others and teaching them to do the sameHe
takes care of us. Its a beautiful arrangement that leaves
us with a beautiful feeling indeed!
We all know that sooner or later
material things pass away. Empires collapse. Economies and
businesses fail. So do social benefit programs and pension
plans. Who can you really trust? Only Jesus! Its a wonderful
feeling to know that even if everything else were gone, we
would still have Jesus and His Words. And that is all we need!

The
Perfect Boss
David
Brandt Berg
Foxes
have holes and birds of the air have nests, Jesus
told His followers, but the Son of Man has nowhere
to lay His head (Matthew 8:20). Jesus never owned
a home. In fact, it seems that the only material things
He owned on earth were His clothes. Jesus said that
it was enough that a disciple be like his master (Matthew
10:25), and Paul said, Having food and clothing,
with these we shall be content (1 Timothy 6:8).
Yet look at all that Jesus has given us besides that!
All the rest are extras.
Jesus is better to us
than He was to Himself. He loves us and wants us to
be happy and comfortable, and He knows what we need
and whats good for us. Hes pretty smart
about that, because He knows that when Hes extra
good to us, well want to show our appreciation
by working harder and doing a better job for Him.
Jesus believes in happy
employees. To Him, our happiness is worth more than
money. Hes willing to let us have almost anything
we want as long as we put Him and His first (Matthew
6:33). As long as we delight ourselves in Him, He gives
us the desires of our hearts (Psalm 37:4).
