little
boy named Johnny was visiting his grandparents on their farm,
and he was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods. |

He
practiced and practiced, but he never managed to hit the target.
A little discouraged, Johnny headed home to dinner. As he approached
the farmhouse, he saw Grandmas pet duck, and out of impulse
pulled back the slingshot and let a stone fly. The stone hit
the duck square in the head, and killed it. The boy was shocked
and grieved, but also afraid of the consequences when his grandparents
found out. In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile,

all,
but she said nothing.
After dinner Grandma said,
Sally, lets wash the dishes. But Sally said,
Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen.
Then she whispered to him, Remember the duck?
So Johnny did the dishes.
The next day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing,
and Grandma said, Im sorry, but I need Sally to
help make supper. But Sally just smiled and said, Well,
thats all right, because Johnny told me he wanted to
help. She whispered again, Remember the duck?
So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help.
After several days of Johnny
doing both his chores and Sallys, he finally couldnt
stand it any longer. He

to his grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck.
Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug, and said, Sweetheart,
I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the
whole thing. But because I love you, I forgive you. I was
just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of
you.
Whatever
wrongs you may have committed in the past, the Devil will
remind you of them every chance he gets. But Jesus Christ
was standing at the window, and He saw the whole thing. He
wants you to know that He loves you and will forgive you the
moment you ask Him to. Hes just wondering how long you
will let the Devil make a slave of you.
