A HEAD OF
GOLD
Daniel explained
his vision to his patron—the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar.
He told him…
38 "…You
are this head of gold…"
So, according to Daniel,
Nebuchadnezzar and his empire Babylon, famous for its extreme wealth and
luxury, were this head of gold! Babylon was also called "the golden city"
and featured magnificent hanging gardens. Daniel:(2:39)
The Babylonian Empire lasted only from 606 BC until
538 B:C, yet it ruled the entire "known World" of the
time.
ARMS
AND CHEST OF SILVER
39 "And after
you shall arise another kingdom inferior
to you,"
In 538
BC Babylon was conquered by Darius the Mede, king of Medes and
Persians. A dual empire, God pictured Medo-Persia as 2 silver arms and
chest. As the right arm is stronger than the left so the Persians were
stronger than the Medes! Silver arms symbolised its famous craftsmen who
mainly used silver. Daniel continued:
BELLY
AND THIGHS OF BRASS
"…and
another third kingdom of brass, which
shall bear rule over all the earth."
In 333
BC, the Greeks under their Macedonian king Alexander the Great,
defeated and conquered the Persian empire and the rest of "all
the earth"—the then known world—all
the way from the Balkans to Northern India! The Greek empire, known for
its use of bronze in its weaponry and art, was pictured by God as a bronze
belly and thighs, almost 300 years before it came into existence! Very
remarkable indeed! Why the belly down to the thighs? For one thing, thus
it had to include the male sexual parts, for besides gourmetry, the ancient
Greeks were famous…and infamous… for quite "liberal" sexual attitudes,
mixed with spirituality and philosophy! Besides being used for food and
sex, the belly is also the seat of the spirit. God sure knows how to symbolise
things!Daniel:
40 "The fourth kingdom shall be strong
as iron: forasmuch as iron breaks in pieces and subdues all things,
and as iron that breaks all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise."
 LEGS
OF IRON
Around 44 B.C., the Roman Empire was well
under way, and conquered eventually most of Europe, Northern Africa and
the Middle East! Why iron legs? God knew already before time began, that
Roman weaponry would be made of iron.
He Himself also designed Italy—the central root of the empire—shaped as
a leg or fancy boot,
stumbling over a rock, Sicicly! This last
detail is very impressive indeed, as the image in the vision was destroyed
by a rock, that struck it at the toes!
The legions of Rome were
famous for their legwork, marching
everywhere and making roads for it all over Europe! Why two
legs? Was the Roman Empire ever split in two?
Oh yes it was! The Orthodox Byzantine half
under Constantinopel split off from the Western
half, headed by Rome. This division is still perpetrated religiously,
even today, in the Orthodox
religion and the Roman Catholic Church,
which also had 1500 years of political implications.
The Western Roman Empire, after its fall, was taken over by the "Holy"
Roman Empire! (while just recently, the Orthodox Eastern half went
Communist for 50-70 years!) But over the centuries European nations broke
away from it’s power! Europe crumbled more and more into smaller pieces,
even though some, like the other AC’s, Napoleon and Hitler, tried to revive
the glory of the old Roman Empire, but they never quite succeeded, until…the
time of the FEET…which has
now begun!
